Overview
The Library, with more than thirteen thousand books, manuscripts, audio and videotapes, and over 100 journal titles, represents a source for the study of analytical psychology that is unmatched in northern California. Many of the 1,200 plus audiotapes are of Institute seminars and conferences, such as the four History of Analytical Psychology symposia that the Institute has sponsored since 2000. We collect primarily in the fields of Jungian and general psychology, sandplay, mythology, symbolism, religion, alchemy, and art - a wide range of materials which reflect Jung's own eclectic interests. The Library also has special collections and archival material concerning C. G. Jung and the history of analytical psychology.
The Library's primary function is to serve the training, clinic, education and research programs of the Jung Institute. We welcome many researchers and writers from across the world who need to use our resources. In addition, local students, professionals and the general public may join the library as subscribers (who have full borrowing privileges) or visit us for day use on Wednesdays for a small fee.
If you are interested in consulting the collection or if you would like more information about becoming one of our regular subscribers, please email library@sfjung.org or call during business hours (M-F, 9-5) at 415-771-8055, ext 207.
We also welcome volunteers. Volunteers who work 4 hours a month will receive borrowing privileges in our Library while working for us. For further information about volunteering please contact the library.
